Saint Mary's's Matthew Dellavedova has been selected as the StatSheet West Coast Player of the Week for the week ending January 21st. Portland's Oscars Reinfelds has won StatSheet West Coast Freshman of the Week. Dellavedova registered big numbers in rebounding (3 per game), scoring (14.5 pts per game), and assists (7 per game). The Saint Mary's senior played well for the Gaels in wins against Brigham Young and Portland.
Dellavedova posted 18 points and 8 assists in 36 minutes in a close 70-69 win over Brigham Young. In the next game he added 11 points and 6 assists in a huge 60-38 win against Portland.
This is the first StatSheet West Coast Player of the Week award for Matthew Dellavedova. The runner-up this week is Pepperdine senior Lorne Jackson. Honorable mention goes to Kelly Olynyk, a junior from Gonzaga. Anthony Ireland was the highest ranking player from Loyola Marymount, finishing 20th.
StatSheet West Coast Freshman of the Week: Portland's Oscars Reinfelds
Oscars Reinfelds averaged 21 minutes of playing time as a starter for Portland. He was number one among all West Coast freshmen in scoring (9.5 pts per game). In a 71-49 loss to Gonzaga, Reinfelds chalked up 12 points and 3 assists. In a 60-38 loss to Saint Mary's, he led all scoring with 7 points and also put up 3 rebounds.
This marks the first time this season that Oscars Reinfelds has won the StatSheet West Coast Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Stacy Davis from Pepperdine. Mark Tollefsen from San Francisco takes honorable mention. Loyola Marymount players have not yet been named StatSheet West Coast Player of the Week this season.
